*Objectifs : Développement de la recherche fondamentale et clinique, et promotion de lutilisation en routine du laser athermique (ou laser de basse énergie, ou "soft-laser" ; longueur d'onde 632,8 nm) dans la prévention et le traitement des mucites et épithélites induites par les traitements anti-cancéreux (chimiothérapie et radiothérapie).
Objectives :
Development of basic and clinical research, and promotion of
routine use of lllt (low lever laser therapy, wavelength 632.8
nm) in the prevention and treatment of mucositis and dermatitis
induced by anti-cancer treatment (chemotherapy and radiotherapy).
Bien que réversibles, en général sans séquelles, ces effets secondaires aigus sont les principaux facteurs limitants de ces traitements anticancéreux, notamment dans la prise en charge des cancers des voies aéro-digestives supérieures (1, 2).
En contrôlant cette action précoce négative sur les tissus sains, l'utilisation du laser de basse énergie autorise ici, en plus du confort et de la qualité de vie des patients traités, une OPTIMISATION thérapeutique très significative (amélioration significative de l'index thérapeutique ++).
L'utilisation de cette méthode a débuté au Centre Antoine-Lacassagne (CAL) à Nice dans les années 80 (Dr Gaston CIAIS), avec des premiers résultats très encourageants (3). Plusieurs essais cliniques, d'abord de phase II (4, 5) puis randomisés de phase III (6, 7), ont confirmé son efficacité dans ces indications cancérologiques : prévention très significative des mucites de grade 3 chimio- et radio-induites, réduction de l'intensité douloureuse, du degré maximum et de la durée de la mucite induite +++.
De nombreux travaux biologiques ont permis enfin d'expliquer l'effet de ce rayonnement (8, 9), et ont contribué à la définition de protocoles spécifiques de son utilisation en pratique clinique.
